Accessible within the Files system in TRUE or with a selected PDF file in TRUE Field, the viewer offers professional-grade document tools for construction documentation, contracts, and project files.

The Apryse PDF Viewer organizes tools into feature tabs: View, Annotate, Shapes, Insert, Measure, and Fill and Sign. Each tab provides specialized tools for different document tasks. The panel also includes utility buttons for search, comments, and menu access.

Panel Controls

Toggle the page thumbnail navigation panel to quickly browse and jump to specific pages in the document.

Getting Started

The Apryse PDF Viewer is available in two locations within TRUE:

From the Files System:

  1. Navigate to any record with attached files (Jobs, Contracts, Quotes, etc.)
  2. Open the Repository or Files section
  3. Click on any PDF file to open it in the viewer

From TRUE Field:

  1. Select any PDF file attachment in TRUE Field
  2. The PDF opens automatically in the Apryse viewer

The two tabs serve different purposes depending on whether you need to read or mark up a document.

View Tab:

  • Displays a clean document view without annotation tools
  • Best for reading and reviewing documents
  • Provides distraction-free experience

Annotate Tab:

  • Shows the full annotation toolbar
  • Includes highlight, underline, strikeout, notes, and freehand tools
  • Use when you need to mark up or comment on documents

Annotation & Markup

  1. Open the PDF in the Apryse viewer
  2. Click the Annotate tab to display annotation tools
  3. Select the annotation type you want to use:
    • Highlight - Select text and apply color emphasis
    • Underline - Add line beneath selected text
    • Strikeout - Draw line through text
    • Note - Click to add a comment balloon
    • Free Text - Click anywhere to add text
  4. Use Color Selection to change annotation colors
  5. Use Undo/Redo to navigate your editing history

Yes. The Shapes tab provides geometric drawing tools for technical markup.

  1. Click the Shapes tab
  2. Select the shape tool you need:
    • Rectangle or Circle for basic shapes
    • Polygon for multi-sided shapes
    • Cloud for revision callouts
    • Line, Poly Line, or Arrow for directional markup
    • Arc for curved lines
  3. Click and drag on the document to draw the shape
  4. Use Edit Options to modify existing shapes

Tip: Cloud shapes are commonly used in construction documents to highlight areas requiring revision or special attention.

You can add digital signatures from either the Insert tab or the Fill and Sign tab.

  1. Click the Insert or Fill and Sign tab
  2. Click Signature to use an existing signature, or click Add New Signature to create one
  3. If creating a new signature:
    • Draw your signature using your mouse or touchscreen
    • Or type your name and select a signature style
  4. Click the location on the document where you want to place the signature
  5. Resize and position as needed

Note: When you save or download the document, signatures are embedded directly into the PDF file.

Measurement Tools

The Measure tab provides tools for measuring construction plans, architectural drawings, and engineering documents.

  1. Click the Measure tab
  2. Click the measurement tool button to open the scale overlay
  3. Set the scale (e.g., 1 inch = 1 foot) to match your document
  4. Select the measurement type:
    • Distance - Click two points to measure length
    • Perimeter - Click points around a boundary
    • Area of Polygon - Draw a shape to measure irregular areas
    • Area of Circle or Square - Measure standard shapes
  5. View measurements in the left panel

Common Use: These tools are frequently used for construction takeoffs to measure material quantities from architectural plans.

The measurement tools support a wide range of units for different industries and regions:

To change units or set precision, click the measurement tool button to open the scale and precision overlay. You can adjust settings at any time during your measurement session.

Document Management

  1. Click the Search button in the utility toolbar
  2. Type the text you want to find
  3. Press Enter or click the search icon
  4. Use the navigation arrows to move between search results

Yes. The Comments button displays all annotations in a convenient panel.

  1. Click the Comments button in the utility toolbar
  2. A panel opens showing all annotations on the document
  3. Click any annotation in the list to jump to its location
  4. Use this panel to review, edit, or delete annotations

To Print:

  1. Click the Menu button
  2. Select Print
  3. Configure print settings and print

To Save/Download:

When you download the document, all annotations, signatures, and form entries are embedded directly into the PDF file. The annotated PDF can then be shared, emailed, or stored with all markup intact.

Security Note: The Apryse viewer is fully client-side. All document processing happens in your browser - no data is uploaded to external servers.

Display & Settings

Use the View Controls to customize how pages are displayed:

  • Continuous Page - Scroll smoothly through the entire document
  • Page by Page - Navigate one page at a time
  • Single Page - Display one page filling the viewer
  • Double Page - Show two pages side by side (useful for spreads)
  • Rotate Clockwise/Counterclockwise - Turn pages 90 degrees
  • Full Screen (via Menu) - Maximize the viewer window

Yes. Dark mode reduces eye strain when working in low-light environments.

    • Calendar - Insert formatted dates
